This occasion was marked with a parade from the Snyman Circle to four locations in Windhoek , namely, Otjomuise, Ombili, Havana and Goreangab, where officials distributed food, t-shirts and caps. More than 600 people residing in a small town, Mariental, including teachers, learners, elders, and regional councilors gathered at the Sportsground in commemoration of the 26th World Food Day and the 14th International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The President Hifikepunye Pohamba's keynote address was read by Governor Hanse. A highlight of the day was a school performance - a Tswana and Gumboot dance illustrating humanity's quest for a world free from hunger and poverty.
