Educational outreach services provided by UNIC to educators and students around the world promote awareness of the role and work of the United Nations on priority issues. Learning about the UN can increase knowledge about the global dimensions of local issues and the local dimensions of global issues.

UN Chronicle is a journal for academic and educational outreach and for informed debate on the work of the Organization. UN Chronicle Online has developed a new UN Education Portal as an information hub and resource for teachers and the educational community.

 The United Nations Cyberschoolbus is an online education component of the Global Teaching and Learning Project, whose mission is to promote education about international issues and the United Nations. The target audience is teachers and students from primary to secondary school. It develops new print and online educational materials on a wide range of social issues and offers opportunities for students around the globe to interact and collaborate on finding solutions to global problems.

 Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. More than 200,000 high school and university students participate every year in 400 Model UN Conferences held worldwide. Model United Nations promotes student and teacher interest in international relations and related subjects, increases capacity for students to engage in problem solving, teaches aspects of conflict resolution and research skills, and creates opportunities to meet new people and to make new friends.

The UN Works Programme develops media partnerships, publicity campaigns, promotional materials and shows the general public how UN programmes are improving the lives of ordinary people worldwide.
